Red Bull X-Ray Update Freestyle is done Taka - a deserving winner
Taka threw down a near flawless, run featuring a massive seat-grab flip to score a massive 216 points which Robbie Maddison couldn't find an answer to. Maddo's score of 199 points (same as he scored in the first final) was basically a flip trick short of Taka's score. In a last ditch effort he also hucked a seat-grab flip over the 120 footer, but it looked a little sketchy. ![]() Final number two was a dissapointing end for Sincs (forth), who ended up scoring only 156 points due to using too much time spent on the back section of the course between scoring jumps. Talking to him after the run he said he was trying to avoid wasting the last two jumps hitting the small doubles in the bottom of the course under the Red Bull bridge. It appeard Maddo also fell victim to wasting time in the same area during his run. ![]() Cam Sinclair, Mick Sinclair and Benny Foster admiring Maddo's handy work Broadie Wilson's clean run rewarded him with third place overall with 162 points in what is a good result against the biggest names in freestyle. ![]() Taka hanging off his YZ250 Freestyle Final 2 Freestyle Final Robbie Maddison 184 Broadie Wilson 162 Cam Sinclair 148 Taka Higashino 179 Robbie Maddison 199 Taka Higashino 216 ![]() Broadie Wilson throwing a nice no-handed catty

Red Bull X-Ray Update Freestyle is done
The riders and crowd alike were amped up for the speed and style finals after an awesome morning of FMX and massive whips. Marshall had been the hot favourite around the pits from first practice on Friday with his vast race and FMX experience. A head to head format was used, with tricks scored out of 10. Each point from your run took half a second off your lap time. First round winner Sincs, figured the best way to beat a racer was to stick it up the inside as far as possible in the first corner and slow the other rider down. Wedging himself between the hay bails and Kirk Gibbs both riders ended up going down in a cloud of dust. Sincs kept his bike going and got back on first, getting into his run of big tricks. Kirk couldn't put a pass on Sincs until the big double-double section at the top of the course which blew his laptime out to the point Cam easily took the win on points.
Dan McCoy and Luke Styke were busting out some tidy runs combining their awesome speed with a surprising array of tricks for racers. DMC pulled Double Cans, Supermans and even a side show while Styke went for the more is more approach putting as many small tricks into each job as he could manage. Lawson Bopping even hucked a big Cordova over the 160ft double. Taka flipped more than anyone in his run and even though usually had one of slowest lap times his massive scores ensured his overall time was consistently at the top.
Maddo under rotated a Flip on the return jump in front of the judging tower and landed hard (although still on the bike) and although he took the win easily over Sauly, had to pull out from the second round. DMC moved in to take his place, with the next best overall to face off against Boppo. The standings going into final two: 1) Tye Simmonds vs Cam Sincair 2) Robbie Marshall vs Luke Stykes 3) Lewis Woods vs Taka Higashino 4) Lawson Bopping vs Daniel McCoy Sincs' hole shot tactic didn't work on Tye in the second round. He got caught up on a hay bail and went down, Tye managed to go wide around the outside and literally leave Sincs in the dust. Battered from going down Sincs got up to give chase but was feeling the effects of the crash and couldn't take it to Tye. Lewis was no match for another high scoring flip run from Taka and DMC stayed right on Boppo's rear guard while tricking all the scored jumps to take the second final.
DMC hanging off his KTM The standings going into final three: 1) Tye Simmonds vs Robbie Marshall 2) Taka Higashino vs Daniel McCoy Marshall showed Tye in final 3 that a fast run of Whips and Nac Nacs was not going to be enough to secure the top place on the podium. Marshall although not flipping, showed that combining fully extended grab tricks and fast pace between jumps to be the winning combination. Taka dispatched of DMC in his usual trick heavy fashion. McCoy and Tye then faced off for the minor placing. As in the last round, Tye's lightning fast lap was not enough to make up for a lack of variation in his tricks handing the third place to McCoy.

Update on William Van Den Putte
Finally things are getting better. This year was one of the most stressful years I've ever had. Shutting down my compound, Broke my foot, Crashed my mobile landing into a car, A lot of shows and business to take care, still with a lot of pain. But hard work always pays. that's a good thing! Thanks to the Racetrack "AMC Genk" back here in Belgium. They gave me the opportunity to build our new park in the middle of the racetrack. with 2 landings double wide. Competition set-up, Concrete run-ups, Fun box, wall ride still coming. And the foam pit is almost ready. It's a theme park for dirt bike riding. Also the Racetrack is a Grand Prix track. And we got some good plans for the future to make freestyle competitions. Huge speed and style track. Super cross. Actually If you take a look at the track there is a possibility to make a European X-games just right over here. So july was a crazy month. with all the stress, shows, things I had to work on. Lucky this month was a lot more easy. And the hard work is done. The only thing that's still a problem is my foot. The doctors told me, this is what its gone be. For riding it's ok. But if I take a long walk or twist my foot. It's hurting a lot. I hope it still gets better. But It already took so mush time. So the next show I have is in 2 weeks Morocco. I'm really looking forward or this. The concept of the show is like The European Riders Versus The spanish riders. So we got to compete against Danni Torres. And this Kid got some skills! It's gone be fun for sure. So that all news for now and soon I'll show you a video of the new track when It's all done.

August 23, 2010Montey The Great!!Montey The Great – An interview with a man who's not only great at handling his tools! levi sherwood's mechanic monteyThey say behind every great man you'll find a good woman, but this is not true in Levi Sherwood's case. He has in his corner one of the greatest motorcycle mechanics on earth, well one of the greatest to have ever held a Sidchrome shifter in his hands. His name is Montey The Great, AKA Stephen Montgomery, and we – being X-Fighter judge Brody Henricksen and myself (Goba) – caught up with the popular Kiwi mechanic as he tightened Levi's nuts at the London round of Red Bull X-Fighters to talk about what it's like to be so popular, how he puts up with the high demands from his boss, and what X-Fighters after party does he rate the best – plus other stuff that's not so important! Brody – Montey, can you describe to us an average day your not at an event: My average day is pretty full on, wake up bright and early around 6am, wash bikes, make sure they're all prepped and ready for Levi to ride for the day ... Nah not really. I have a pretty good lifestyle, up around 9am, make sure the bike's fine, go riding and just hang out with the boys all day pretty much. I love my lifestyle and job. I'm around motorbikes and good people so can't complain really. Brody – So you get to go riding yourself: Yeah just on motocross tracks not freestyle at all. It's fun! Brody – The big question is when you go riding who wins between you and Levi: C'mon man do I really need to answer this one? Definitely me for sure! (Laughs). Nah, to be honest Levi would probably have me a little bit, but so he should because I'm half bung and crippled so I've got a good excuse. Brody – So when you're actually at an event what's your favourite part of being there: Afterparty for sure! Nah just hangin' out with everyone, it's always a good time.
Goba – I see you really come alive at the after parties Montey, which one's been your fav on the X-Fighters series so far: Russia for sure! It was amazing! Like when you walk in the door and their's chicks half topless dancing on top of a piano you know it's going to be a good night. Brody – So do you have any good after party stories where maybe it all didn't turn out how you expected in the end: Ahh, yeah, but I don't think we need to talk about that. All I'll say is I look after my boy pretty well, but sometimes he doesn't return the favour! (Laughs) Goba – So what's Levi like as a boss: To be honest I'm pretty much the boss. I tell him what tricks to do, and what he's doing wrong ... Ha, nah, Levi is real laid back as most people would know. He's fun to work with. Goba – So he wouldn't be half the man he is without you Montey: Oh yeah for sure, I help him out heaps ... I think, maybe? Brody – I heard a rumour on the street you're now being offered sponsorship contracts due to your growing popularity, can you confirm this: Yeah I'm talking to ESPN at the moment to make a reality TV show, every thing's going pretty well for me. Brody – How about personal sponsors, are they lining up: Not yet, I'm just reping Levi's sponsors at the moment. Goba – You're looking like a UNIT Xmas tree at the moment: Yeah they've, well, Levi has been hooking me up pretty good of late. It's good gear! Levi drops in.
Goba – So Levi are you starting to feel a little threatened by your mechanic who's popularity is on the move: Stuff yeah! Look at this guy, he's stealing all the media attention. Plus he's stealing my sponsors, look at all this stuff he's got man! I didn't even know Unit made that T-Shirt he's wearing, WTF! Montey: Yeah I've got all the latest Tees bro! Levi: Man, I don't even have new Unit Tees! Whatever! Not even fased! Goba – So Levi would you be lost without Montey: Yeah pretty much, I'd probably be riding that nugget over there (points to an old spare parts Honda in the next pit). Back to the man in the spotlight. Brody – Back to the serious stuff, at an event besides getting the bike ready do you actually help out with Levi's runs and keep track of what other rider's are doing: Yeah if he asks me questions I'll give him input, but he's pretty much got it under control, he knows what he's doing. Brody – C'mon Montey, cut the modesty, I've seen you sneaking around the course scouting for lines: Yeah true bro, I always go on missions to suss out if I can find hotlines or way's he can get around the course faster, and suss out where the judges are viewing from so he knows what tricks to do where. Goba – What are the main things you do to the bike: I'm always double checking things as I'm always worried about it falling to peices – spokes, triple clamps, general nuts and bolts, etc.
Goba – Have you guys had any Barney's or problems yet: No run-ins yet, fingers crossed! We only had one problem with the bike and that was in Egypt where the new bike had a dodgy carby, and that messed with Levi's head a little, but we got it sorted. Brody – Do you get on with the other mechanics in the pits: Yeah all the boys are good. Maddo's mechanic Hoody is always entertaining and has good stories to tell. You gotta meet that guy, he's a little different than the rest, in a good way! (Laughs) Everyone is awesome. Brody – Where do you hope Team Levi will sit at the end of the season: We got the silver medal at X Games, a win here in London hopefully (he won), and hopefully another win at the last round in Rome. If he wins that it'll be close for the overall, which would be nice. It's been a big learning curve for Levi so next year he'll only get better. Goba – Thanks for your time Montey, we know it's precious, all the best for your rocketing career, catch you soon bro, and try and remember us in a few years when we need a quick interview yeah: Yeah I'll try fella's, keep up the good work eh.

Crusty Demons announce bold new plans for Thirst 4 Destruction Tour Melbourne, Australia (6 June 2010) – Today marks the beginning of a new era in the sport of freestyle motocross with Australia’s premier live sport and entertainment company Dainty Consolidated Entertainment announcing its future vision and commitment to the world's leading live action sports brand – The Crusty Demons. Pioneering a new era for the Crusty Demons, ‘Thirst 4 Destruction’ will tour the country throughout October and November and will feature a completely transformed show, with more thrills, spills and FMX skills than ever seen at a Crusty Demons show before. Utilising the extensive music and theatrical resources of Dainty Consolidated Entertainment, the second generation of Crusty Demons promises to reign over live action sports entertainment and fans should only have one expectation - expect the unexpected. As further testament to Dainty Consolidated Entertainment's commitment to not only the Crusty Demons brand but also the sport of freestyle motocross as a whole, a selection of the sports leading riders have signed up exclusively on multi-year deals. The line up will include some of the biggest names in freestyle motocross from Australia, United States & across the globe whose lack of fear will be complemented by some of the world’s best stunt professionals attempting the unachievable with their motorised innovations. The world-class rider line-up has been assembled over the past six months with its foundations built around Australia’s best freestyle motocross talent. The Crusty Demons are proud to present the new King of freestyle, Jackson Strong, who hurled himself into the world record books for landing an awe-inspiring front flip at the recent Crusty Demons Regional tour at Cairns. Selected as a firm favourite for the X-Games, the 18-year-old’s achievement has seen him issued with an invitation to compete at the renowned extreme sports event in California. “I am stoked to part of the Crusty family,” said Strong. “One of the best parts for me is that I will now have input into the shows and direction of the Crusty Demons. “For me, it is an awesome opportunity that will allow me to focus all my time on riding and perfecting my front flip without the worry of chasing jobs. “It is exciting that Dainty Consolidated Entertainment have recognised us as elite athletes and offered long term deals like all other professional sports. I can’t wait to do front flips for everyone on the Thirst 4 Destruction Tour, that will be the only place for Australian fans to see me do the front flip,” Strong continued. Flanking Lockhart’s wacko Jacko will be the notorious Kain Saul who played role reversal in 2009, becoming the first person to back flip a 257 kg, 100 horsepower Harley Davidson XR1200 Sportster. This has to be seen, to be believed! “I feel honoured to be one of the first riders to sign up to a multi-year deal with the Crusty Demons,” said Saul. “As an athlete it is great to have my future mapped out and to also now have a say in the direction of the Crusty Demons. “We are very fortunate to have the resources of Dainty Consolidated Entertainment behind us and we all share the common goal of making this best action sports show on earth,” Saul added. Original madman Seth Enslow, who is a founding member of the Crusty Demons and world record holder for a long-distance jump at 175ft on a Harley Davidson, is also confirmed and you won’t believe what he has planned. The brand new, never before seen show will unleash two months of thrilling action, kicking off in Perth on October 16, before carving a path of destruction across the country. Excitement has washed over the fans and organisers alike in expectancy of more big announcements in the coming weeks including the remainder of the all-star team. FLESHWOUND FILMS CREW AT IT AGAIN FILMING IN AUS......
The word was out that Matt "Schuie" Schubring had a film session going down over two days at his compound and the Ten-Pack with Jon Freeman and Dana Nicholson from Fleshwound Films. I jumped straight on my bike and made the two hour trek rolling up just in time for the boys first session. The riders – Schuie, Robbie Marshall, Kain Saul, Jake Bowan, Joel Balchin, Steve Sommerfeld, and Mick Hall warmed up over the 75-foot ramp to dirt and 75-foot dirt to dirt while a pocket of afternoon sun shone through. That didn't last long, so it was decided it was time to hit up Schuies natural terrain hits on the other side of his property, and this is when things heated up. Schuie is the master of big dirt hits and that's why he builds them so faarkin huge. First up they hit the 110-foot to dirt hit, which is a good warm up as the run in is smooth and it pops the riders up nicely over the side of the hill and landing on a nice downhill lander. The boys had fun on this one, ending with six rider trains popping tricks at the same time. The afternoon rolled on as the clouds covered the sky and the light faded. Schuie, Robbie and Joel nailed the 180-footer, and the big step-up that claimed Steve Mini earlier int he year was a hit, but my highlight would have to be when Schuie sacked up and Combo Flipped the 120-foot ramp to dirt hit that the only other rider to hit was Robbie Marshall, its a big girl! Bilko is the only other rider besides these two to hit take it on, with Schuie explaining, "It's scares most riders!" I'll let the pictures tell the story from here as I gotta fly. Schuies cooking up breakfast and then we're off to the Ten-Pack, bring it on! Stay tuned for more photos and footage, cheers Goba. More pics

Aussie Blake Williams takes X Games Gold and Silver: Finals
The invite-only action sports event brings together the world’s best athletes to battle it out for Gold, Silver and Bronze in their respective discipline. Williams collected silver in yesterday’s Moto X Best Trick, with a 360 Indian air and perfectly-executed cliffhanger flip to no-handed lander bringing the crowd and fellow riders to their feet. With the judges proving hard to impress, Bilko dug deep into his repertoire of tricks today to take a deserved career-first gold in Moto X Freestyle by a single point after three runs. The achievement also marks the first time an international rider has taken a Gold medal in the Freestyle category in the history of X Games. The result is the ultimate reward for the 24-year-old from Baxter in country Victoria, who has now reached the action sport’s pinnacle. “After being robbed of gold in the Best Trick event last night it really lit a fire under my belly to settle for nothing less than gold tonight,” said Williams, whose previous best X Games medal was a bronze. “I am stoked, tonight was the one that counted and it was an amazing feeling to get the win in front of my Mum and Dad who flew over for the event. “It has been a long couple of weeks and to be honest I actually didn’t have the preparation I would have liked. “I want to dedicate the medal to the late Jeremy Lusk and Bronte Holland and also my mate Cam Sinclair who I should have been competing against tonight.” The next event on Bilko’s schedule is the Wendy’s Invititional at Portland, the first of three FMX stops on the 2009 Dew Tour. Ends.

Cam Sinclair is in an induced coma in Spain after underrotating a double backflip. Cam was competing in the final of the Red Bull X Fighters event on Saturday when the accident occurred. A double backflip Sinclair had been attempting uncharteristcally underrotated and nosedived into the ramp. Footage of the accident shows Sinclair slam into the ramp and his bike crash on top of him. View video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RB-Qr75RSiQ Cam didn't move after coming to rest on the ramp.Knocked unconscious by the force of the impact and rushed to hospital where surgeons operated on a broken shoulder and ruptured liver. Since the accident Cam has been fighting for his life in a critical condition in Madrid. He suffered a broken shoulder, broken cheek bone, a ruptured liver and was knocked unconscious. Due to the rupture in his liver he had emergency surgery for internal bleeding. Thankfully surgeons were able to stop the bleeding. At this stage Cam remains in a critical condition, however has improved over night. He has opened his eyes and is responding to instructions to raise his arms and squeeze his fiance Brooke’s hand. This is great news, as there was bruising on his brain; the fact that he is responding to their commands is a really really good sign. Cam had qualified second for the finals and was hoping for his first X fighters win. We wish Cam and his family all the very best and trust he's in good hands and will make a speedy recovery.
The 2009 X-Games, beginning on July 30th in California, could become a huge success for the Crusty Demons as an unprecedented number of riders have been invited to compete. Also, Levi Sherwood, winner of the Red Bull X-Fighters round in Mexico, will become the first Kiwi to compete in Freestyle at X Games. The Crusty Demons wish all these guys the very best, and hope X-Games 15 will be a Crusty-dominated competition. Adam Jones - Freestyle These are the preliminary invites, and are subject to change before competition begins on July 30th.
A sold out crowd of 15,000 screaming fans witnessed the final stop of the Crusty Demons Beyond the Apocalypse Tour at the Burswood Dome in Perth on the weekend. The atmosphere was amazing and all of the riders responded with their best performances of the tour. Cam Sinclair made it a perfect nine from nine attempts at the double back flip and Ben Fiez also managed to pull of another double back flip on his min bike. America’s Beau Bamburg took out the final whip competition and Bilko claimed top honours in the back flip combination competition with a 360 heel clicker to no hander lander. All of the Crustys rode with their shirts off in the final trick trains, pulling off all of the biggest tricks in FMX one after the other and causing yet another standing ovation. The American riders and a selection of Australian riders will now head to the USA for the competition season and everyone at Crusty wishes them the best of luck!
The Crusty Demons performed two huge shows at the Acer Arena on the weekend, which was a fitting send off for Australia’s Matt Schubring, who has decided to retire from touring to pursue other interests in the industry. Much to the delight of the crowd, both nights had their thrills and spills. The biggest came on Saturday night when Ben Fiez jumped off mid flight in his double back flip mini bike attempt, which sent him flying into the air and rolling onto the main lander. Thankfully he escaped without any serious injury.
He has now flown back to the US to be there for the birth of his son.
The Crusty Demons Beyond the Apocalypse Tour made its worldwide debut in Melbourne on the weekend with two huge shows. Almost 25,000 fans over two nights packed the Rod Laver Arena as they screamed and cheered their way through the mind blowing shows. The two local riders, Cam Sinclair and Bilko, stole both shows with Cam Sinclair performing two perfect double back flips and Bilko proving he back to his best by pulling off a number of jackhammer back flips and his signature 360’s. Bilko was so fired up he even pulled off a 360 heel clicker on the Saturday night.
Ben Fiez pulled off his first ever double back flip on a mini bike and the final back flip combination train with all riders created a standing ovation on both nights.
The tour will now make its way to Brisbane with a show on Friday May 22 and Saturday May 23 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

Seth Enslow better known through his role with the Crusty Demons of Dirt and his motorcycle distance jumping records, is out to set a new world record jump on a Harley-Davidson. The Harley-Davidson he plans to jump is a brand new XR1200 with specially developed suspension. Enslow plans to break previous records set on an Harley-Davidson XR750 by none other than Evel Knievel, who in February 1971 set a new world record by jumping 19 cars and a distance of 151 feet (46m). Later beating Kinevel was Bubba Blackwell then pushed past the record by jumping 157 feet (47.8). Enslow now wants to jump the XR1200 past the 200 foot (60.9m) mark.

I cannot believe what I just witnessed. 17-year-old New Zealander Levi Sherwood just won the first round of the Red Bull X-Fighters. In his first major contest, Levi went head to head with reigning X-Fighters champion Mat Rebeaud and emerged victorious. Levi impressed every single spectator in the stadium with his insane extension and one-of-a-kind style. Tonight, Levi made FMX history and there has never been a better time to be a fan of the sport. If I'm not mistaken, Levi is the youngest rider to win a Red Bull X-Fighters event. Finishing an impressive second place was Eigo Sato of Japan. This wasn't Eigo's first time riding Red Bull X-Fighters in Mexico City, but it was his first time placing in the top three. Eigo busted out all of his tricks with his signature style, but in the end, it wasn't enough to beat Sherwood. Mat Rebeaud rounded out the top three, with a good run, but not one of his best. We all know what Mat Rebeaud is capable of and tonight, there seemed to be a bit something missing from his tricks. Regardless, Mat killed the course, getting in more hits than most and ending up with a solid third. I just want to congratulate both Levi and Eigo for putting in such impressive runs and throwing a wrench in the spokes of the Red Bull X-Fighters results. What an awesome event. More to come. I'm going to bed. Adios! For more information, photos and videos check out redbullxfighters.com '09 Red Bull X-Fighters Mexico City Final Results 1. Levi Sherwood — NZL READ PRESS RELEASE
MINI ROCKS NIGHT OF JUMPS Steve Mini was rocking the NIGHT of the JUMPs / FIM Freestyle MX World Championships Germany’s capital city yesterday. In the packed o2 World arena in Berlin he won the IFMXF Whip Contest together with Brody Wilson (USA), And then he did an amazing qualification run and reached his first IFMXF final. “Aussie” Steve Mini seems to feel better and better on European ground. In the final he did triple trick-combos, Lazyboy to No-Hand-Landing, Superflip, Clickerflip and Suicide Flip to 1-Hand-Landing. He ended up 4th, missing the podium only by a few points. This reached Brody Wilson with perfect extensions and his well-known style. 2nd place went to Brice Izzo with massive flip combos like Shaolin Flip, Tsunami Flip, Superman Seatgrab Flip and Lazyboy Flip. But even that was not enough to beat Jose Miralles this day. He started a trick firework and did a No-Hand-Flip to No-Hand-Landing in the Double-up and amazed spectators and the judges. The next points of the FIM Freestyle MX World Championships Steve can collect at the NIGHT of the JUMPs Graz (Austria) on April 17th and 18th. Right now Levi is touring his native country as a member of the Crusty Demon Unleashed Hell Tour, and he's no new-kid-on-the-block either, as he joined Crusty in 2004 at the ripe age of 14, which is pretty impressive considering most kids that age are the ones cheering on the Crusty Demons from the stands, not jumping 75-foot gaps in front of thousands. Levi feels right at home riding alongside the Crusty crew, with him saying, "Its a bit like family, you travel and hang out together, and get to know each other pretty well. I've been lucky to ride with some the worlds best and it always makes you want to go out and learn as much as you can. I love riding the Crusty shows as the fans are a lot more enthusiastic than at a lot of the other shows so it pumps you right up. Also riding with the worlds best pushes you as well. For someone who has never been to a Crusty show it's hard to explain how loud the crowd is; it's out of control!"
